Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B Vaccine: Dr. Joe Galati Explains

Published on Jul 14, 2013
Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B both have effective and safe vaccinations to prevent these infections of the liver. Hepatitis A is spread by fecal-oral transmission; hepatitis B is considered a sexually transmitted disease, and is spread through close contact and by blood and body fluid exposure. Left untreated, hepatitis B can lead to chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis, and liver cancer.

Dr. Joe Galati, a liver specialist in Houston, Texas, discusses vaccine options. He hosts Your Health First every Sunday evening on Clear Channels 740 KTRH. His practice, Liver Specialists of Texas, is dedicated to the care of patients with all facets of liver disease, including hepatitis C, fatty liver, cirrhosis, liver cancer, and liver transplant.
